Fall 2010 Adult Forum

Why Can't We Talk? Engaging Issues without Shouting... Adult Forum Series, September 12-October 24, 10:15-11:00

September 12, "Talking Again for the First Time: An Introduction to Theological Reflection on Contemporary Issues," Mary Lenn Dixon, postulant to the diaconate, Diocese of Texas

September 19, "The Wholeness of Faith: An Introduction to the Catechism," The Rev. Sam Todd, academic dean of Iona School for ministry, author of An Introduction to Christianity: A First-Millennium Foundation for Third-Millennium Thinkers, and former acolyte at St. Andrew's

Other topics and speakers to be announced will consider various aspects of the Anglican tradition of bringing theology and spirituality to bear on contemporary issues. In a world where shouting has replaced civil conversation, churches split over controversial issues, and religious wars threaten world security, Christians offer a different way of approaching issues. The Anglican tradition offers a distinctive heritage of living together in the face of disagreements. We will explore this gift to the world and our contemporary culture as we listen to speakers on a variety of related topics. Come to one or all of the forums, and find the hope that we share.
