Gabriella Hernandez, St. Andrew’s first Neal Scholar to graduate, received her award during the Rudder High School Scholar night on May 7th. Seven years ago while attending Neal Elementary, Gabriella was chosen along with other fifth graders as the first class of scholarship winners. Each student had $1000 deposited in each of their names at the Bryan ISD Education Foundation. The scholarship would be awarded as they graduate high school and deposited in their names at the school of their choice which could be university, commercial or trade school, or community college.
Many students will become the first in their family to graduate from high school. Gabriella is graduating a year early and plans to attend Texas State next fall. “It is truly an honor to have been awarded this scholarship! It is going to be a great help when I start college in the fall! I am very thankful for all that St. Andrew’s has done for me,” said Gabriella Hernandez.
St. Andrew’s recognize the new group of St. Andrew’s Scholars at Neal Elementary this Thursday, May 23, 1:45 p.m., and they will bring the total number of St. Andrew’s Scholars to 58. The parish and community are invited to attend this special celebration.
